The goal of this project was to achieve an advertising look through CGI instead of studio product
photography. It also served as an opportunity to study the shading process to recreate digitally
condensation on the Can and Ice cubes.
Research and Development
One of the main goals with this illustration was to create a photorealistic Ice and Can condensation.
I’ve spent several weeks studying real product photography methods to photograph and simulate ice and condensation in a production environment and tried to adapt this knowledge to my 3D models and Shading nodes.
The final condensation included a complex array of procedurally generated droplets affected by gravity, hand modeled droplets and some photoshop work.
The final Ice “cubes” were hand sculpted in ZBrush and their shading nodes included some procedurally generated internal bubbles and ice strings.
